In an earlier blog, I wrote about a website called pageflakes.com. Well this is pretty much the same thing only through Google. iGoogle allows you to import any sort of content you want to look at upon entering your iGoogle webpage. For me you can see below, I have a website i like called appleaddiction.net, i have local movie times, local weather, my gmail inbox, etc… And you can also search google right from this page as well. I also like it because i can access any of my google accounts from my home page very quickly, such as adsense, analytics and stuff like that.
I highly recommend you to try it out if you liked the pageflakes website. See which one you like best. This is my home page and pretty much allows me to check through all the usual sites i would normally pull up without having to pull them all up.
Once you get on iGoogle, to add stuff you click the Add Stuff link on the top right corner. A new page will pop up with all the different gadgets that can be added to your home page. This page will then pop up.
You can sort by hottest, most users, newest, by categories, you can even sort by Editor’s picks or make your own gadget up. Once you find the gadget you want then click on the link and it is automatically added to your page. You can also choose what theme you want displayed on your page. The theme changes the top of the page. On my page above it is the green area at the top of the page with all the swirly things floating around.
You can also add feeds of your choice as well. Click on the add feed or gadget link and type in the url of the page you want and it pops up on your iGoogle home page automatically.
One final feature I need to mention before I go is the ability to add tabs on your page. On my page, I have a sports tab and I have several different links on espn.com which pop up automatically. So you can pull up golf, nba basketball, nfl football, and college football sections all at the same time and get a quick idea of what articles are featured on the.
